| What attracts you first is bold simple composition and fresh colours. Here, a loose fluid line is cutting off the picture seemingly at random it could be humorous. Together with a warm and friendly impression that the woodcut print always gives you, kind of something cool and sexy can also be imagined. Every of Ms. Nomura's prints is absolutely brilliant. She says, "When flowers are nearly out, I'm getting excited. I'm pleased to observe how nuts or seeds are growing ripe. I'm thrilled to see their pretty little shapes having a lot of mysterious functions. For me, prints could express those feelings of joy. I'd like to create lovely functional pieces". She remains actively engaged in finding something new and surprises to make artworks. Now on view, a large variety of prints, which are originally designed and have the essence of her own. | Miwa Yamazaki pottery exhibition | ||||
| During the process of crafting, Ms. Yamazaki spends pretty much time sitting down in front of the potter's wheel. Every of her works created in this way has a graceful and elegant form it's unbelievable. She says, "I'd like to shape an unstrained natural line. So I always feel clay directly with my hands. The greatest care and attention is essential". She's well aware of the tips of shaping clay to achieve the desired effect. Then a rich deep red is coloured with shinsya glaze, or flowing lines are inlaid on the surface. Each piece becomes richly expressive and presents a different impression depending on its own personality. She says, "Making ceramics, I meet a lot of people. I connect with them. I feel sympathy with them. That's what I enjoy the most". Now on view, a large variety of pottery works which are originally designed and have the essence of her own.
